French pear tart

A very simple tart for an evening tea. Pears can be swapped for apples. For a savoury-sweet version, add blue cheese, honey, thyme and nuts to the pears and leave out the cinnamon.
Ingredients
- puff pastry (unleavened) — 2 sheets
- pears — 2
- apricot jam — 50 g
- cane sugar or honey — 30 g
- cinnamon — 2 tsp
- butter — 30 g
- walnuts or hazelnuts — 30 g
Method
- Slice the pears thinly.
- Lay the puff pastry on baking paper. Roll it out lightly. Score a border around the edge with a knife.
- Thin the jam with a little hot boiled water. Spread it over the pastry in a thin layer.
- Arrange the pear slices in overlapping rows.
- Sprinkle with sugar or honey and cinnamon, dot with butter and scatter over the nuts.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 15 minutes.
- Brush with a little more jam, raise the temperature to 200°C and bake for another 5 minutes.
